BIOGRAPHY

The work of Dimitrie Lazich in opera and music theatre is consistently met with critical and popular acclaim on both sides of The Atlantic. Most recently he performed with The New York City Opera in several of their productions including: German Soldier SILENT NIGHT and Figaro IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA. As both a strong vocalist and actor, he has been lauded in performing new works such as Malnate in GARDEN OF THE FINZI CONTINIS by Ricky Ian Gordon with NYC Opera, Edwin Cheney in Daron Hagen's SHINING BROW and Laurent in Tobias Picker's opera THERESE RAQUIN. He recently performed the role of Leporello DON GIOVANNI (5th Ave. Opera), as well as the Barber in the Strauss comedy DIE SCHWEIGSAMME FRAU with Opera Theater of Pittsburgh as well as Bard Summerscape.  He was seen with the Pittsburgh Opera as El Dancaire CARMEN, Schaunard LA BOHÉME and as the Corporal in THE DAUGHTER of the REGIMENT. Among other leading roles throughout the US and abroad he has sung Danillo THE MERRY WIDOW , Papageno THE MAGIC FLUTE, Dandini and Don Magnifico LA CENERENTOLA and as the Villains in THE TALES OF HOFFMANN. 

In Europe he debuted with the Staatsoper Stuttgart in DOCTOR FAUSTUS and sang with De Nederlandse Reisopera in LA TRAVIATA. In the UK, he sang Zurga LES PÊCHEURS DE PERLES and Escamillo CARMEN. He also has performed with the Opera Company of Philadelphia as Marullo RIGOLETTO and with the Sarasota Opera as Thomas Putnam CRUCIBLE and Morales CARMEN. On the concert stage he was a soloist in Elijah, Carmina Burana, Messiah, St. Matthew's Passion, both Faure and Durefle Requiems. Most recently he sang with The Masterworks Chorus in Haydn's Die Shopfung (The Creation) as well as made his Carnegie Hall Debut performing the solos in The Messiah with the same group.

He was a featured soloist in Pop's Concert's in The Nederlands performing works of Gershwin and Rodger's and Hammerstein, as well as in a televised concert as Escamillo in CARMEN THE MUSICAL and Escamillo in the opera CARMEN all in the Royal Concertgebouw. 

Dimitrie has performed concerts throughout New York City, Brooklyn and Long Island as part of the Havarim ensemble where they perform Jewish sacred and pop music, as well as musical theater favorites.

As an actor he was featured in Discovery ID's (People's Magazine) Crimes of Fashion as the assassin Benedetto.

He is represented by Kathy Olsen at Encompass Arts as both a singer and an actor.
